Jenn-Air was founded by Louis Jenn in 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The company built its reputation on a pivotal innovation: in the early 1960s, Jenn-Air introduced the first self-ventilating indoor cooking range with a built-in downdraft ventilation system—the JA600.
