How to Use Aluminum Mesh Foil for Filter Rebuilds

- Measure the internal frame opening to determine the cut size required. Add approximately 1⁄4″ to each dimension to allow for overlap onto the frame ledge during reassembly.
- Cut the mesh foil to size: Use tin snips or heavy-duty scissors. Aluminum mesh cuts cleanly when sheared perpendicular to the weave. Cut on a flat, stable surface and wear cut-resistant gloves to protect against sharp mesh edges on the cut perimeter.
- Seat the cut sheet into the frame opening and re-crimp or re-fasten the perimeter retaining tabs to secure the new mesh in position. Confirm the sheet is fully flat and seated before reinstalling the filter in the range hood.
- Reinstall and test: Insert the rebuilt filter into the hood filter bay, restore power, and run the hood at full speed briefly to confirm normal airflow with the new media in place.
