Description
Custom Aluminum and Carbon Combination Range Hood Filter — Grease & Odor in One Unit: Customize Odor Removal Filters
The RHPS0-CUSTOM is a made-to-order combination range hood filter that integrates an aluminum mesh grease-capture layer with an activated carbon odor-absorption pad in a single replaceable unit. Combination filters are used in ductless and recirculating range hoods and over-the-range microwaves where both grease capture and odor removal are required from the same filter bay. Order here when your range hood requires a combined grease-and-odor filter in a size that is no longer stocked, or when a custom-built unit is the only practical way to keep a discontinued or non-standard hood in service.
Specify your exact dimensions at checkout: width, height (length), and depth (thickness). Every custom combination filter is hand-built in the U.S.A. by American Metal Filter Company using the same aluminum mesh and activated carbon polysorb materials used in our OEM-replacement product lines. Width and height tolerances are held to 1⁄16″. Custom-size combination filters are non-returnable and non-exchangeable — measure twice before ordering.

Key Benefits — Custom Combination Grease and Odor Filter
- Two-Stage Filtration in One Unit: The aluminum mesh panel captures airborne grease and cooking aerosols; the activated carbon layer adsorbs cooking odors, smoke, and VOCs — both functions from a single replaceable filter.
- Built to Your Exact Dimensions: Width and height are cut to the nearest 1⁄16″. Standard depths of 3⁄8″, 1⁄2″, and 3⁄4″ are available — specify at checkout.
- Solves Discontinued-Filter Problems: When OEM replacement filters for your range hood model are no longer manufactured or stocked, our custom program extends the service life of your existing hood indefinitely.
- Same Materials as Named OEM-Replacement Filters: Aluminum mesh, aluminum perimeter frame, and activated carbon polysorb pad — identical specification to our branded replacement filter product line.
- Manufactured in the U.S.A.: Every custom-built filter ships from our U.S. facility. No overseas production delays or quality uncertainty.
- 40+ Years of Manufacturing Experience: Range Hood Filters Inc. has built and supplied range hood filters since 1986 — more than 40 years of expertise behind every custom order.

How to Measure for a Custom Combination Filter
Use a tape measure or digital caliper to record width and height of the existing filter or the bay opening to the nearest 1⁄16″. Enter all dimensions as decimal values — use the conversion table below. Depth is the face-to-face thickness of the filter; check your hood’s bay depth before selecting a thickness option.
| Fraction | Decimal | Fraction | Decimal |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1⁄16″ | 0.0625″ | 9⁄16″ | 0.5625″ |
| 1⁄8″ | 0.125″ | 5⁄8″ | 0.625″ |
| 3⁄16″ | 0.1875″ | 11⁄16″ | 0.6875″ |
| 1⁄4″ | 0.25″ | 3⁄4″ | 0.75″ |

Custom Combination Filter FAQ
Can I return or exchange a custom combination filter?
No. Custom-built filters are manufactured to your specified dimensions and cannot be restocked or resold. Verify all measurements before completing your order. If you are unsure of your dimensions, contact our customer service team before ordering — we can help confirm your required size.
Do combination filters work in all range hoods?
Combination grease-and-odor filters are designed for ductless (recirculating) range hoods and over-the-range microwaves. If your range hood vents outside through ductwork, a grease-only filter is all that is required — carbon odor absorption is only effective in recirculating systems where kitchen air passes back through the filter repeatedly.
How often do I replace a custom combination filter?
Replace on the carbon filter schedule — every 3–6 months depending on cooking frequency. Because the aluminum mesh and carbon layers are bonded into a single unit, the entire filter is replaced when the carbon pad is spent: approximately every 3 months for heavy cooking or every 6 months for typical residential use.
