How to Find the Right Kenmore Range Hood Filter

1. Locate your range hood model number. Open the range hood canopy and look for a white label on the inside top surface or side wall of the filter compartment. The model number is printed there.
2. Find the OEM filter part number. Look up your range hood model in the Kenmore owner’s manual or parts diagram to identify the OEM filter part number.

Aluminum Mesh Grease Filters — Washable & Reusable

Aluminum mesh grease filters are the primary filtration stage in every range hood. A multi-layer aluminum mesh captures airborne grease particles, cooking aerosols, and smoke before they coat interior hood surfaces or enter the blower motor. Aluminum mesh filters are washable and reusable — clean monthly in the dishwasher or by hand with hot soapy water.

Activated Carbon Odor Filters — Disposable

Carbon odor filters are required in ductless (recirculating) range hoods where filtered air is returned to the kitchen rather than exhausted outdoors. Activated carbon adsorbs cooking odors, smoke compounds, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that aluminum mesh cannot capture. Carbon filters must be replaced—not washed—every 3–6 months or when odors persist.

Aluminum mesh grease filters: Clean monthly in the dishwasher or with hot soapy water. Replace only when physically damaged—torn mesh, warped frame, or corrosion that cleaning cannot remove. Properly maintained aluminum mesh filters can last years.

Carbon odor filters: Replace every 3–6 months under normal residential cooking conditions. Replace sooner if cooking odors are detectable in the kitchen while the range hood runs at full speed—odor breakthrough is the most reliable indicator that the carbon is saturated. Do not attempt to wash carbon filters.
