About Sharp® Range Hoods

Sharp Corporation was founded in 1912 in Tokyo, Japan by Tokuji Hayakawa as a metalworking shop. In 1915, Hayakawa invented the Ever-Sharp mechanical pencil, whose commercial success lent the company its enduring name. Sharp entered consumer electronics in 1925 with the introduction of one of Japan’s first crystal radio sets, and expanded into television manufacturing in 1953. Through the second half of the 20th century Sharp grew into a diversified global electronics manufacturer, producing televisions, microwave ovens, solar panels, and consumer appliances sold in markets worldwide.

Sharp entered the American over-the-range microwave market beginning in the 1970s, becoming one of the first manufacturers to popularize the OTR microwave as a combination cooking and kitchen ventilation appliance. Sharp OTR microwaves incorporate an integrated range hood ventilation system with replaceable aluminum mesh grease filters that capture airborne cooking grease before it enters the blower and ductwork. Sharp Electronics Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary, is headquartered in Montvale, New Jersey. Sharp Corporation became a subsidiary of Foxconn Technology Group (Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd.) in 2016 following an acquisition that made Sharp a key part of Foxconn’s consumer electronics manufacturing operations.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sharp Range Hood Filters

How do I find the right filter for my Sharp range hood?

Locate the model number on the label inside your Sharp range hood canopy (on the top surface or a side wall of the filter compartment). Use the model number to look up the OEM filter part number in the Sharp parts diagram or owner’s manual, then search by part number on this page to find the matching filter. For aluminum mesh grease filters, you can also search by filter dimensions if the OEM part number is unknown.

Are your Sharp compatible filters genuine OEM parts?

We carry both genuine OEM Sharp replacement parts (identified by the original manufacturer part number) and quality aftermarket alternatives manufactured by American Metal Filter Company. Aftermarket filters are manufactured in the U.S.A. and engineered to meet or exceed original equipment specifications for dimensions, mesh density, and frame construction.

How often should Sharp range hood filters be replaced?

Aluminum mesh grease filters should be cleaned monthly in the dishwasher and replaced only when damaged. Activated charcoal odor filters (used in ductless / recirculating Sharp range hoods) should be replaced every 6–12 months, or when cooking odors persist in the kitchen with the hood running.

Where is the model number on a Sharp range hood?

The model number label on most Sharp range hoods is located on the inside top surface of the hood canopy—the surface visible when you look up into the hood. On some models it is on a side wall inside the filter compartment. The label is typically a white sticker showing the model number, serial number, and electrical rating.

What is the return policy on Sharp compatible replacement filters?

Range Hood Filters Inc. guarantees satisfaction on every order. If a filter does not fit correctly or is defective, contact us with your order number and the range hood model number and we will arrange a replacement or refund promptly.
