How to Find the Right GE Range Hood Filter
- Locate your range hood model number. Open the range hood canopy and look for a white label on the inside top surface or side wall of the filter compartment. The model number is printed there.
- Find the OEM filter part number. Look up your range hood model in the GE owner’s manual or parts diagram to identify the OEM filter part number.
- Search by part number on this page. Enter the OEM part number in the search box to find the matching replacement filter from our catalog.
- Alternative: search by filter dimensions. If the OEM part number is unknown, measure your existing filter (length × width × thickness) and search by size.
GE Range Hood Filter Types
Aluminum Mesh Grease Filters — Washable & Reusable
Aluminum mesh grease filters are the primary filtration stage in every range hood. A multi-layer aluminum mesh captures airborne grease particles, cooking aerosols, and smoke before they coat interior hood surfaces or enter the blower motor. Aluminum mesh filters are washable and reusable — clean monthly in the dishwasher or by hand with hot soapy water.
Activated Carbon Odor Filters — Disposable
Carbon odor filters are required in ductless (recirculating) range hoods where filtered air is returned to the kitchen rather than exhausted outdoors. Activated carbon adsorbs cooking odors, smoke compounds, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that aluminum mesh cannot capture. Carbon filters must be replaced—not washed—every 3–6 months or when odors persist.
GE Range Hood Filter Replacement Schedule
Aluminum mesh grease filters: Clean monthly in the dishwasher or with hot soapy water. Replace only when physically damaged—torn mesh, warped frame, or corrosion that cleaning cannot remove. Properly maintained aluminum mesh filters can last years.
Carbon odor filters: Replace every 3–6 months under normal residential cooking conditions. Replace sooner if cooking odors are detectable in the kitchen while the range hood runs at full speed—odor breakthrough is the most reliable indicator that the carbon is saturated. Do not attempt to wash carbon filters.
Frequently Asked Questions — GE Range Hood Filters
How do I find the right filter for my GE range hood?
Locate the model number on the label inside your GE range hood canopy (on the top surface or a side wall of the filter compartment). Use the model number to look up the OEM filter part number in the GE parts diagram or owner’s manual, then search by part number on this page to find the matching filter. For aluminum mesh grease filters, you can also search by filter dimensions if the OEM part number is unknown.
Are your GE compatible filters genuine OEM parts?
We carry both genuine OEM GE replacement parts (identified by the original manufacturer part number) and quality aftermarket alternatives manufactured by American Metal Filter Company. Aftermarket filters are manufactured in the U.S.A. and engineered to meet or exceed original equipment specifications for dimensions, mesh density, and frame construction.
How often should GE range hood filters be replaced?
Aluminum mesh grease filters should be cleaned monthly in the dishwasher and replaced only when damaged. Activated charcoal odor filters (used in ductless / recirculating GE range hoods) should be replaced every 6–12 months, or when cooking odors persist in the kitchen with the hood running.
Where is the model number on a GE range hood?
The model number label on most GE range hoods is located on the inside top surface of the hood canopy—the surface visible when you look up into the hood. On some models it is on a side wall inside the filter compartment. The label is typically a white sticker showing the model number, serial number, and electrical rating.
What is the return policy on GE compatible replacement filters?
Range Hood Filters Inc. guarantees satisfaction on every order. If a filter does not fit correctly or is defective, contact us with your order number and the range hood model number and we will arrange a replacement or refund promptly.
About GE® Appliances: A Century of American Kitchen Innovation
General Electric Company was incorporated in 1892 through the merger of Edison General Electric Company — founded by Thomas Edison in 1890 — and Thomson-Houston Electric Company. The consolidated company brought together Edison’s direct-current light bulb and power distribution patents with Thomson-Houston’s alternating-current technology, establishing a foundation that would make GE one of the defining industrial corporations of the twentieth century. General Electric was among the original twelve companies listed on the Dow Jones Industrial Average when the index launched in 1896.
GE entered the home appliance market in earnest in the 1910s and 1920s, manufacturing electric fans, ranges, and — most notably — the iconic Monitor Top refrigerator, introduced in 1927. The Monitor Top became one of the best-selling refrigerators of its era and established GE as a trusted household name in kitchen appliances. To support the growing appliance division, GE constructed Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky, a manufacturing campus of more than 1,000 acres that opened in 1953. Appliance Park became the center of GE home appliance production for the next six decades and remained the home of what would become GE Appliances long after the ownership of the division changed hands.
GE Appliances has been a significant manufacturer of residential cooking ventilation products for decades. In 1978, GE introduced the Spacemaker line of over-the-range microwave ovens, combining microwave cooking with powered kitchen ventilation in a single unit mounted above the range — a format that went on to become the dominant approach to kitchen exhaust ventilation in American homes. GE range hoods and Spacemaker over-the-range microwaves rely on aluminum mesh grease filters to capture aerosolized cooking grease from the air drawn through the unit. These filters are identified by GE-assigned part numbers such as WB02X11126, WB02X32269, and WB06X10718, among many others spanning decades of production at Appliance Park.
In June 2016, General Electric Company completed the sale of its appliance division to Qingdao Haier Co., Ltd. (now Haier Smart Home) for approximately $5.4 billion. The transaction transferred ownership of the GE, GE Profile, GE Café, Monogram, and Hotpoint appliance brand names, along with Appliance Park and manufacturing operations across North America. The appliance business now operates as GE Appliances, a Haier company, headquartered at Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky. General Electric Company retains ownership of the GE® trademark and licenses it to GE Appliances under a long-term agreement.
